What you'll learn in this kids technology class:

Take your first steps towards cyber stardom! In YouTube Star, campers will learn about and practice the entire process of developing and maintaining a YouTube channel. Working in pairs, campers will first get to decide on the subject, format and style of their channel. Campers will then record both real-world and screen-captured footage, edit their videos to add music and special effects, and finally upload their creations to YouTube. Be a star and learn how to create awesome videos and share your passions at EDMO Pro’s YouTube Star camp!

21st Century & SEL Skill Focus: Creativity, Initiative, Collaboration, Communication, Empathy, Problem Solving, Responsibility.

Fun Fact. In 2018, there was a 30% increase in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills developed for those who attended two weeks of Camp EDMO™ and a 39% increase for returning EDMO™ families over new families!

Please note that campers work in pairs or teams and share computers. This allows for a more collaborative process, as well as more comprehensive and innovative projects. Plus, it’s more fun!

Sample Projects

Plan Your Channel
Let’s get it started…From “How-To” guides and movie reviews to variety vlogs and “Let’s Play” gaming shows, campers will get to choose from all kinds of styles and topics for their channel.

Campers will learn how to plan and prepare for the start of their YouTube channel; considering things like style, duration, production schedule, and more.

Capture Footage
Time to make the videos! Campers will capture a combination of live-action footage from webcams and digital cameras, as well as screen-captured footage if their videos involve software or games, to get the video content they need.

Campers will learn about basic filming tips and techniques and also practice using screen recording tools.

Edit Videos
It’s all about the finishing touches. Music, sounds, special effects, transitions, and more can be added through video editing software, adding real polish to camper’s videos before uploading them to YouTube.

Campers will learn how to use Lightworks, a free and cross-platform video editing software.
