Saturday Feb 1st, 10am - 5pm
Chicago Photography Academy was opened in early 2009, and we ran our first class with just two students. Shortly after that enrollment sky-rocketed and, to date, we have provided classes for more than fifteen thousand students. At any one time, there are, on average, one hundred students enrolled in our Certificate Program.
If you just need a primer so that you can take better pictures of the kids, we can help. If you want a complete education in all aspects of photography, we can help. If you are challenged by time or distance and cannot make it to classes, we can help.
Wherever you are on your creative journey, we are here to support you. Our purpose is to support local, aspiring photographers in the Chicago community by giving them the opportunity to work with experts in the photography world. Students sharpen their skills, talent and knowledge in a supportive community eager to learn and move forward on their creative journeys.

Carlos was fantastic!!
Excellent ! Carlos , our teacher was wonderful . Very knowledgeable ,very skilled presenting information to the group . Carlos quickly assessed the varying levels of the students and adapted to each to give the instruction at the correct knowledge base . The class was interesting , I learned so much and will be returning for further classes . Thank you ! Karen Rooke .
The class was awesome, just wish there was some sort of a handout that covered the key points with steps on how to find it again on your camera.
I was impressed with the instructor. The facility was well designed. The flash trigger equipment needed to be repaired. Each student should have a working trigger. There could have been better handouts or maybe audio visual to demonstrate the photo techniques.
The class delivered exactly what was promised. A fast-paced overview of the basics of how to manage light and begin to apply that to taking photos.
I definitely got my money’s worth. The course is fast paced and covers a ton of ground. I walked away understanding why certain things happen when taking a photo and how to adjust. The instructor took time to help with individual issues and questions.
Carlos was awesome. We learned so much - and the info was easy to understand.
Carlos was great I know more about my camera after the class then I every would have figured out on my own he take the time to make sure every student understands despite all the different cameras people had. I would recommend this class to anyone who has a DSLR camera and wants to get the most out of it.
As I said in the previous review request, Carlos was THE best instructor I have ever had. I always had such a hard time understanding the relationship between aperture, shutter speed and ISO. He walked us thru everything in terms that made perfect sense to me. Unlike other beginning photography classes I have taken, Carlos started from ground zero even though a few in the classroom were more advanced. Loved, loved, loved the class! I even signed up for the online version this morning! Great job!
