What inspired you to teach?

I came to fitness late in life. In my formative years, the most exercise I got was from marching in my high school band! But when I was 30 my mother had a serious health crisis, largely because she neglected her own wellbeing. Sadly, she didn't survive. That was my "red alert" moment - that if I made the same mistake of not putting myself first, I could end up like she did.

I gradually started eating better and exercising. Of course, I had good days and bad days. (I still do - I'm human!) But eventually I got bitten by the workout bug and grew stronger and healthier than ever. I became determined to "spread the gospel" to anyone who would listen, and ultimately I was fortunate enough to find someone willing to pay me to do what I love - making a positive difference in people's lives. And it's *never* too late to make a difference in yours.

What 3 things do you specialize in as a teacher?

- I'm a "core fiend"! Your core supports your whole body, so keeping it strong and healthy is crucial. It's one reason I'm such a huge fan of TRX training.
- I will nurture you, but I'll also challenge you beyond what you thought you were capable of doing.
- I'm serious about fitness, but I don't take *life* too seriously - so expect to laugh when you're with me. (Laughter works your abs!)

Describe the environment of your class

I prefer the word "challenging" over "hard", because with work and perseverance you can overcome any challenge! I'm a stickler for getting your form and posture right from the start so your exercise program remains safe and effective. And I *will* challenge you - but I'll generally have a smile on my face when I do. I hope you will, too!

Why do you like about teaching at fitLOCALfit?

The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, and the people are too. What's not to like?
