Join us for a special presentation by artist Firoz Mahmud. Born in Khulna, Bangladesh, now based in New York & Tokyo, artist Firoz Mahmud received his MFA from Dhaka University, Institute of Fine Arts in 2011, and his PhD on Fine Arts from the University of the Arts in Tokyo, Japan in 2010. Mahmud has been selected for several esteemed residencies including Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam in 2002-03, International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP), New York in 2011, and most recently at the Flux Factory in New York.

Mahmud’s work include installation, photography, painting and mixed media, and has been exhibited all over the world including major exhibitions at the Office of Contemporary Art (OCA), Oslo, Norway, curatored by Nada Raza of Tate Modern (2016), 1st Aichi Triennale (2010), Sharjah Biennale , UAE (2009), Cairo Biennale (2008), Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale (2006 & 2009-DAP), Asian Biennale Bangladesh (2008, 2002 & 2000). His work also was exhibited at the Metropolitan Art Museum in Tokyo, Fuchu Art Museum, Ota Fine Arts, University Art Museum, Mori Art Museum, The University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts in Tokyo, Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art (2010) in Japan, kunsthaus Tacheles in Berlin, Rochester Contemporary Art Center, New York, Sovereign Asian Art Foundation, The Landmark Atrium, Hong Kong, ShContemporary08, Shanghai Exhibition Center, S.M.A.K., The Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art – Ghent, Witte de With, Rotterdam,Changwon Sungsan Art Hall, Korea, National Art Gallery, Dhaka , Metropolitan-Gallery Mostings & Byggeriets Hus, Frederiksberg, Denmark. Mahmud has two upcoming solo exhibitions in New York in 2017.
