Level 1 ASL focuses on basic vocabulary, grammar, reception and tools to make a smooth transition to learning a visual language.
In a Basic class you’ll find a new approach to learning American Sign Language (ASL). Have you tried learning from a book or through online instruction and still have no clue? This course teaches shapes, numbers, the alphabet, and introductory level conversations to enhance your ability to build upon the language.
Level 3 teaches advanced grammar, syntax and improves fingerspelling production. Focus is on basic classifiers, quantifiers and locatives. Note: If you have not taken a class with us before, please reach out for a placement interview.
Level 4 continues teaching advanced grammar and syntax with a strong focus on mass quantity classifiers, directional verbs and numeral incorporation. Note: If you have not taken a class with us before, please reach out for a placement interview.
Level 5 further instructs advanced grammar and syntax, while introducing semantics with focus on topicalization, conjunctions and distributional aspects. Note: If you have not taken a class with us before, please reach out for a placement interview.
Level 2 expands on vocabulary and grammatical knowledge, while providing exercises to increase comfort and fluency in using the body, face and hands. Note: If you have not taken a class with us before, please reach out for a placement interview.
Conversation classes use a “natural” conversation mode in order to increase fluency. Heavy concentration will be placed on telling stories that are clear, coherent, interesting and culturally appropriate. Level 6 provides a cumulative review of vocabulary, grammar and syntax of previous levels in preparation of “conversation” level. Note: If you have not taken a class with us before, please reach out for a placement interview.
This class is meant for Japanese language beginners. Let’s watch Japanese anime and learn basic expressions, such as greetings, “This is X”, “What is this?” etc. in Japanese.
