What you'll learn in this 3d animation class:
Intro to Augmented Reality Storytelling with Spark AR Studio
Learn how to start making 3D stories that your audiences can experience dynamically in their own space. In this workshop taught by multimedia designer and artist Ziv Schneider you'll explore augmented reality storytelling and work hands-on with Spark AR Studio to create short spatial experiences. Augmented reality has been used by new organizations like The New York Times, USA Today and BBC and museums including the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
Participants will:
- Go through the augmented reality workflow from importing 2D, 3D and audio assets, to editing and adding interaction, to testing on your smartphone and prepping for distribution (Note: We'll focus on plane-based tracking. Spark AR Studio supports face, plane and target-based tracking.);
- Try augmented reality non-fiction stories;
- Get a foundation in augmented reality concepts and tools.
This workshop is designed for professionals and graduate students in journalism and creative technology. Workshop attendees should be familiar with multimedia production and software.
We'll provide exercise files and light snacks.
Required Materials: Please bring a laptop with Spark AR Studio (free) installed.

In the event that an instructor or the school needs to cancel at the last minute, students will receive a refund less a 5% non-refundable registration fee.
