We offer a variety of group classes at a range of levels. This ensures that whatever your background may be—whether you are an absolute beginner or an experienced tanguero/a, we offer classes that will strengthen your foundation, enrich your technique, and enhance your repertoire of steps.
Our highly qualified instructors strive to create a fun, challenging, and supportive environment in every class.
In addition to classes and private lessons, we host three milongas and one practica per week to support your social dancing habit.
The school first opened its doors in 1997, and many dancers fondly remember walking the cobblestone streets of the Meatpacking District to get to the original location of the studio above the Two Flags Butcher Supply Co. The triangular space inspired the school's name, which Carina kept when she moved the studio to its current location on West 20th Street.
As the New York tango community has grown, the school has remained a destination of choice for visiting dancers and New York based dancers alike. It maintains its reputation as a warm and welcoming studio where students–old and new– come to learn, practice, and hang out. Indeed, the love and care with which the studio has been constructed (the mural painted and donated by a former student, the bar and cabinets built and refinished by another, the coatracks fortified by another) is palpable and present in the classes and events conducted here.
And the school is grateful for all that its students have given back.
The instructor was really good. Great demonstration that facilitated step by step learning. He also gave personalized attention by giving focused directions while observing leaders and followers while they danced. Excellent music selection and comfortable pace of teaching that helped us ramp up from complete beginner to confident novices. I’m signing up for more classes when they open in September.
Excellent class, it was just a bit crowded.
Laure has a great teaching style. I felt comfortable and understood exactly what to do. I felt I really benefited from this class a lot.
Would be nice to sign up for more classes through coursehorse.
I Loved LOVED this class. I had never taken a dance class since I'm generally rhythmically challenged. The instructor, Dante, did a wonderful job of easing everyone into the steps. We started out with a few warm-ups to get some basic movements down, but after that we were learning steps and practicing them with partners. I had signed up with a few friends but throughout the class you rotate partners so by the end I had met 5 or 6 new people. Everyone was super friendly, non-judgmental and there to have a great time. I had signed up for a class to check it out, but I'm definitely going back.
This class was really fun. It was very receptive to beginners/complete-first-timers. I just signed up for the hell of it, and it turned out to be really cool and I want to go back.
