Advanced Culinary Curriculum with Chef Chris Nirschel

Welcome to a new season & chapter at Chef Toni’s Cooking Adventures. Join Food Network Star Master Chef Chris Nirschel as he presents his Young Chefs Training Program that focuses on the development and understanding of proper culinary techniques.

Following his traditional training in the French Arts, Chef Chris guides Jr. Chefs in a fun, learning atmosphere while pushing culinary boundaries and creating innovations for a true NYC foodie experience.

Lesson One – Jr. Chefs will focus on Knife Skills and basic comprehension of Mother Sauces/Soups and Stocks

Lesson Two – Jr. Chefs will undergo rigorous practice in the application of heat and how to use it, i.e. – Sear, Sauté, Roast, etc.   At the end of this second course, Chefs will commence in a Chopped Throw-Down using the knowledge gained from Lessons one & two.

Lesson Three – Fry Day/Fly Day!  Students learn to fry everything from Oreos to Cheese and how to balance the use of fats by pairing them with healthy salads and focus on dressings and flavor combinations to emulsifying.

Lesson Four – Students will create a Tasting menu to demonstrate skills gained for parents.  Students cook, serve & pair foods for a one-hour dinner with their parents.

Each 4-class series will end with a 5th Field Trip to explore farmers markets and other food purveyors, attend a class at the French Culinary Institute or travel to important NYC Food spots around the city with Chef Chris.

Completion of Series I will offer an option to advance to Series II and earn essential tools to add to students’ Chefs tool kit.
