As the backbone of motion pictures, animation, music videos, television series, and commercials, storyboards are the first step in translating concepts onto the screen.
In this course you’ll step into the role of a storyboard artist and discover how these illustrators shape the initial look and feel of projects. Dive deep into designing characters, props, costumes, sets, lighting, and environments, breathing life into every aspect of the story. Feel the excitement as you choreograph and flow through challenging action sequences, ensuring each frame captures the essence of the narrative and discover the immense impact of storyboards on budgeting visual and special effects, from delicate rainfall to spectacular explosions.
Guiding you on this artistic journey is expert instructor Floyd Hughes, known for his remarkable contributions as a Visual Consultant and Storyboard Artist on projects like Superman 3, Clive Barker’s Hellraiser, the first Highlander, Antitrust, I Am Legend, BlacKkKlansman, and much more. With Floyd's guidance, you'll gain insights into the industry and refine your storytelling skills. Through hands-on exercises, you'll learn to create powerful images that bring scripts to life, crafting visual narratives that engage and captivate audiences. From the initial thumbnail sketches to scene composition and camera angles, you'll delve into the art of storytelling through storyboarding. You'll discover that storyboarding isn't solely about advanced drawing skills; initial ideas can be sketched in sketchbooks or even on napkins. The key lies in cultivating a keen sense of pacing, narrative, and imagination.
