What you'll learn in this watercolor class:
We New Yorkers live in a frenzied place. Painting can be a powerful way to quiet the chaos and create harmony within and outside of ourselves. In this class we will learn how to let our intuition and imagination take the lead, so we can paint with confidence and express ourselves authentically. Award-winning artist and highly experienced painting teacher Karen Friedland will impart the skills, tools and structure we need on our artistic journey. She will lead us in exercises to draw out our true vision and spirit and show us how to interpret it onto paper. She’ll help us tamp down our inner critic and free our creativity to go beyond color and lines or any other person’s idea of perfection. If you are feeling stuck, don’t know how to get past it, or think you are not good at art but want to try it, this class offers the caring guidance to overcome your blocks, and have a great time while you are making art.

List of art materials students should purchase and bring to class found at your local art store: –
- Cold press Watercolor paper, 11x 14 smallest, larger is recommended.
- Tube watercolor paint, student quality is fine (e.g. Academy) or inexpensive set (at craft stores like Michaels); 12 colors or more. If you’re buying open stock, don’t bother with brown or black but include white.
- Watercolor brushes, (synthetic is good) the largest round you can afford (maybe 14), a small round for details. Just make sure they come to a sharp point. Sizes vary by brand. 1/2″ & 1″ flat or filbert, and a large, inexpensive wash brush.
- A plastic palette with separate compartments for the colors and a mixing area.
- A board (Masonite) & masking or painters’ tape to tape down the paper and keep it from buckling.
- A pencil & kneaded or white eraser.
- Not required but do recommend purchasing an inexpensive paper portfolio to carry your paper back and forth.
- Supplies can be purchased in Jerry’s Artarama on 4th Ave. & 10 St. Or Dick Blick in Brooklyn or online or any other art supply/craft store.

For Single Evening Events, Series, Half-Days and Mini-Workshops, Walking Tours, Single-Event Webinars or O’Cast™ Recordings, there are no refunds or course credits for these offerings.
For Full Workshops, Ongoing Courses and Webinars and Online Courses:
- Refunds are available minus a processing fee* if you cancel up to 11 business days prior to the first day of the program.
- Course credits are available, minus a processing fee* if you cancel up to 3 business days prior to the first day of the program.
*The processing fee for cancellation is $15 for programs costing less than $250, and $35 for programs costing $250 and up.
No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations less than 3 business days prior to the first day of a program, or if a student does not attend a program. The estimated refund processing time is two to three weeks.
