Carmen Bouyer & Salima Yacoubi Soussane

Carmen Bouyer is a French environmental artist and designer based in New York whose work explores the development of a sense of place. She has a Master in Design from L’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris, and spent a year in Environmental Studies at The New School for Design in New York. Her work has been presented in venues including the Salone Satellite in Milano, The Halka Art Center in Istanbul, The Maquis Projects Gallery, Port Izmir 3 Triennale in Izmir, Park in Progress and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Since her residency at Pioneer Works, from June to December 2015, she has worked on developing organic food access and environmental education programs at Pioneer Works, as well landscape stewardship and environmental art installations in Red Hook. She is also a Design Consultant for Till Design working on the Landscape of Resilience project in the Rockaways, Queens.

Salima Yacoubi Soussane is a New York and United Nations Correspondent participating in advancing the cause of women globally, with a focus on women empowerment and human rights. She covers Moroccan and African related topics as well, specifically economic and developmental issues. She writes in French and English and has collaborated with The Guardian, MTV, A Woman’s Thing, Diptyk Magazine, Telquel and H24info.com. She lives in New York, and tweets @salimay.
