Healing Attachment Wounds to Create Healthy Relationships

Are you looking for a soul-shaking, passionate partnership, but struggle to achieve self-confidence in relationships? If so, you may be unwittingly caught in “the anxious-avoidant trap,” an attachment style that triggers roller coaster relationships. Understanding your attachment style—the ways in which you’ve learned to experience and express your love—is essential to stepping into your life as a creator of it, rather than just as a survivor of it. 

By reframing our experiences through psychoanalytic techniques and grounding ourselves in experiential exercise, art making, sound healing, and group process, we will gain valuable, new insights into our relationships and begin the vital process of healing our attachment wounds. The topics we will address to heal attachment problems include the following: examining the root of our attachment style; love patterns and the six signs of the anxious/avoidant trap relationships; the brain chemistry involved in “push-pull” relationships; the role of fantasy and idealization; and more.

Day 1: The Origins of Attachment
In this lesson, we examine parenting styles that impact specific attachment styles and the degree of ambivalence we experience in our relationships, which takes you from idealizing and romanticizing your childhood, to more compassionately understanding why and how you may have accumulated some emotional and energetic baggage that simply does not belong to you.

Day 2: Examining our Love Patterns
In this lesson, you learn six signs of the anxious avoidant trap, as well as the brain chemistry involved in “push-pull” relationships. We also look at the role of fantasy and idealization. This takes you from blindly falling into toxic situations to being able to identify your patterns in love, and consciously extract meaning from them.

Day 3: Shedding Self Fulfilling Prophecies
In this lesson, you learn about two types of limiting beliefs and how these may be preventing you from finding the love you want. We also embrace our fears as road signs to what aspects of ourselves still need to be loved and embraced. This transforms your mindset from being locked in a cycle of self-sabotage, to shedding those self fulfilling prophecies and opening yourself up to love.

Day 4: Reclaiming the Sacred Body
In this lesson, we take a look at how attachment wounds lead to self splits and disembodied energy, which leads to neurotic anxiety and emotional dysregulation: precursors for ambivalence and avoidance. You are then taken on a guided journey to recover split off aspects of your emotional body. This takes you from feeling fearful and disconnected from your body and your emotions, to standing sovereign in your sacred temple, ready to give and receive love, beyond insecurity.

Day 5: Practicing Ascended Love
In this workshop, we will explore the definitions of “self alignment” and “ascended love.” We will also explore techniques for retraining the harsh voices of the inner judge and victim, so that you may always find the path back to self love and acceptance. We will also have an opportunity for a summarizing group process and Q & A.

By the end if this workshop, the participants will have valuable tools for feeling their emotions without fear, getting their needs met, setting boundaries in relationships, trusting their intuition, managing the inner critic, and exercising creativity and artistry as an expression of mindfulness-based practices.
